What is HIV

What is HIV?

Many of our visitors are interested in what HIV is accurate. HIV stands for human immunodeficiency virus. The virus from the family of retroviruses after infection resulted in a multi-year incubation period, which ultimately leads to AIDS (Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). This in turn immunodeficiency disease is not curable. Nevertheless, there are a variety of treatment options, such as antiretroviral therapy HAART, which slows the progression of the disease. People who are infected with HIV can – with a concomitant therapy – to live for many years. The earlier the diagnosis is made HIV positive, the better. Because only when you know whether you are HIV positive you can also quickly undergo therapy.
We therefore advise all those visitors to an HIV test, are not sure (!) That they are HIV-negative. We also call for more HIV prevention, because prevention is the only protection against infection with the HIV virus.

What is AIDS?

AIDS is the consequence of HIV infection. The acronym AIDS stands for English “Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome” – which translates in German “acquired immune deficiency syndrome.” The background is the following facts:
Since the immune system is attacked by the HIV virus, the human organism is weakened. There is so-called secondary infections, which are also known as opportunistic infections. These opportunistic infections are then referred to as AIDS, where they constitute the so-called “AIDS Full Screen. This pattern is the occurrence of various opportunistic infections and possibly even characterized tumors.
The life expectancy of people with HIV or AIDS is influenced by different factors and, depending on the time of detection, age and health of infecting and depending on whether a therapy was initiated and when this is done depends. But the fact is: AIDS is not curable and leads to death.

Aids is curable?

AIDS is not currently curable. Required breakthroughs in research – especially in a preventive HIV vaccine are pending. AIDS is fatal, but can be slowed through focused and continuous therapy. Furthermore, HAART can be influenced via the fact that HIV infection leads to AIDS as late as possible in full screen.
The therapeutic approaches are constantly changing – in particular, is because a lot of time and money invested in research. Even as a private person or company you can contribute through targeted donations to alleviate the suffering of many AIDS patients and support research in this area.We also want to call in this context means that preventive measures are taken to protect against the HIV virus.

Protection against HIV

There are many ways to protect themselves effectively against HIV transmission. All of them have in common is that they are not exposed to body fluids of third parties. Spit is not compared to blood, semen or vaginal infections. By “drinking from a glass” with an HIV positive person can be infected, for example, not words.Caution: Safety does not mean that one should be so careful that you avoid HIV Positive, but that one pays attention to the hygienic conditions and no additional risk of exposing. In everyday life this means for example that an HIV infected even a plaster on the wound sealed or that a third party – proof of medical rubber gloves – takes over this task.
As in everyday life do not know whether a person is HIV positive or not, should be approached cautiously. For this reason, we find the o.g. Rubber gloves in every (!) First-aid kit, which is in Germany for motorized vehicles of any kind required! The best methods of protection against infection but are ineffective if they are not used. Therefore, before bending and protect yourself appropriately!
